Cindy (Cathy's mom) always says that Cathy started swimming before she could walk. After receiving her Water Safety Instructor Certification from the Red Cross in 1998, she opened Cathy's School for Lil' Fish. In the summer of 1999 she worked in Florida under the tutelage of her grandmother (see "About Us" tab). She has also taught at the YMCA as well as other private swim pools. She received her Bachelor's degree in History and Spanish education from BYU in 2002, and has taught everything from kindergartners to grandparents in all sorts of subjects including history, Spanish, math, swimming, ESL, basic adult education, and piano. She is also the mother of four busy boys! She is a teacher at heart and LOVES teaching swimming lessons.
Cindy is Cathy's mom and pretty much taught her everything she knows; from being a good swimming teacher to being a good parent to being a good person. Cindy learned as a teenager how to be an amazing swimming teacher from her mom, Miss Gwen (see "About Us" tab). In college she ran the aquatics program for the YMCA in Orem, UT and later taught in her own pools in Mesa, AZ and Davie, FL. She has her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from BYU, and has taught every subject under the sun to kids over the years as a teacher at Challenger School, a homeschooling mom, cubscout leader, Sunday School teacher and preschool teacher. She currently teaches preschool to 3 and 4-year-olds at Miss Cindy's Preschool during the school year. She is a highly experienced, passionate teacher!
Diana is another of Cindy's daughters. She received her Water Safety Instructor Certification as well as her Senior Lifesaving Certification from the Red Cross in 2007. She has worked at the Boise West YMCA, Cathy's School for Lil' Fish, and the Hay Harbor Country club (a private resort off the coast of Connecticut). Diana graduated from BSU in communications in 2011 and is currently living back east with her husband. She is a very experienced swim teacher who is absolutely AMAZING with kids. Growing up, Cathy always said that she was "the fun one", and it's still true today! We will miss her terribly this summer!
