We are a family-run swim business located in Boise, Idaho that has been serving families from all over the Treasure Valley for more than 15 years. We are passionate about educating children and adults of all ages about water safety, basic swimming skills, and stroke development in a safe, positive, encouraging, and FUN environment. We teach small classes in a warm, heated pool with excellent, motivated teachers who work very hard to ensure that children learn how to really SWIM!

Family Group Lessons Restrictions & Guidelines: How do you know how much time to sign up for?

 15-minute Time Slot

·     1. For a single child as a private lesson

      2. For 2 children who are the same level (both beginners, both intermediates, etc)

·     No more than 2 children allowed

30-minute Time Slot

·     1.  For 3 to 4 children in the same family (or friend group), no more than 2 different levels.

·     2. An assistant teacher would be in the pool as well

·     No more than 4 children allowed

45-minute/1-hour Time Slot

·      1. For a family (or friend group) with 3 - 6 kids who are all three different levels.

·      2.  An assistant teacher would be in the pool as well

      Mommy & Me Classes

Mommy & Me classes are for children ages 6 mos - 3 years of age.  At 3-years-old they CAN do a private lesson/family group lesson or you can choose to do Mommy & Me based on your child's willingness to go to another adult in the pool.  Classes will run for 1/2 hour, 4 days per week for 2 weeks making 8 total lessons.  The cost is $85 total and an adult must be in the pool with the child at all times.

FAQ’s

Q: Can I share the time with a friend instead of only within my family?

A: Yes, but you need to arrive in ONE vehicle.  At the very most, two vehicles could be allowed if it’s not possible to fit into one.

Q: What is the cost?

A: Lessons are $25 per 15-minute lesson ($100 for a 1-week session).  Regardless of whether you choose to make it a private lesson or shared lesson, the price stays the same.

Q: Can I sign my child up for 30 minutes of a private lesson instead of 15?

A: We highly discourage doing more than 15 minutes of a 1-on-1 private lesson, especially with younger children ages 3 - 7.  Children's attention spans are short.  We can get soooooo much done in 15 minutes, and a 30-minute lesson would turn into a lot of play time and not a lot of additional instruction.  It would be MUCH more effective to sign up for 2 weeks of 15-minute lessons than to sign up for 1 week of 30-minute lessons.

Q: What if my kids are really different ages?  Can they still swim together?

A: Yes!  No worries if your kids are 10, 5 and 3 and all beginners.  Grouping by ability is much more important than age and we will vary our teaching technique to meet each child in an age-appropriate way.

Q: What if my family doesn’t fit into any of the scenarios above?

A: Please email us at cathyslilfish@gmail.com prior to registration day and Cathy or Cindy will reach out to you to figure out the best solution.

Q: Can I sign up for more than 1 week?

A: Absolutely!

How to Register:

At Cathy's School for Lil' Fish, all registration is done online.  If you are planning on registering for Private or Family Group Lessons on Thursday, April 27th at 8 p.m. please read through the following instructions and watch the video below to see a walk through of the sign up process.

1. Read about the different types of lessons we offer (Private, Family Group and Mommy & Me) by clicking on the "cost" tab at the top of this website and decide which type of lesson you want to sign up for.  Then click on the "schedule" tab to preview the schedule and decide ahead of time what date(s) and time(s) you want to sign up for.  Traditionally we have booked our entire summer solid in only a few minutes so it helps to be prepared! Also, be sure to read the "levels" tab at the top of the homepage so you know what level(s) your child(ren) are.

2. On registration day, you will see THREE links on the homepage of the website and on this page.  You will see a Signup Genius Link (this is how you reserve your spot), a Registration Form (this is how you fill out your contact & other information) and a waiting list form. Click on this Signup Genius Link FIRST to reserve your spot.

Signup Genius Link

PRIOR TO REGISTRATION, create a Signup Genius account (this is free) and make sure you're signed into the account ahead of time. The link will go live right at 8:00 p.m. so keep refreshing the page until it opens at 8:00.  On the Signup Genius, select the date and time you want to sign up for and then the quantity (how many 15-minute lessons you want).  If you want just 15 minutes, leave the quantity at 1.  if you want a 30-minute lesson, change the quantity to "2" so that you are getting 2 fifteen minute lessons (we will group them together so you get a solid 30 minutes). If you are sharing the private lesson with another family only ONE of you needs to sign up to reserve the spot you'll share.  Once your spot is secure, you will each fill out a separate registration form (1 per family).

3.  Once you have a spot reserved, go to this "Registration Form" to share your contact information, student information and anything else you'd like us to know (for example, if you signed up for a lesson between 3:00 and 4:30, but you can't actually get there until 3:30 at the earliest, you could let us know on this form).

Registration Form

Please fill out only 1 registration form per family.  If you are sharing a private or Family Group Lesson with another family, please only fill out ONE Signup Genius form, but EACH family should fill out a separate Registration form.  This is not a race.  Once you fill out the Signup Genius form your spot is reserved, so take your time filling out the registration form thoroughly

4. Sometime before May 2nd, you'll receive an email from us letting you know the exact time of your lesson, amount due, payment due date and how to submit payment.

5. If you were unable to secure a spot in the Signup Genius, please fill out this Waitlist Google Form instead of the Registration form and we will let you know as soon as we have spots come available.
